If the A's have any legitimate hitting prospects on the way up from their farm system, it will be a surprise to anyone who has followed the team in recent years. Just as the Giants struggled in this category for far too long, the A's can't develop a consistently hard-hitting position player to save their lives. As the Giants celebrate Pablo Sandoval, prepare for Buster Posey and carry hope for one or two others, they're pulling way ahead in the cross-bay competition.
If...
If...
If only the A's were ranked in top 3 farm systems by Keith Law (oh wait...they were).
If only they had this guy in their organization.
Or this OBP machine 2B-man.
Or maybe this guy.
Maybe Rickie Weeks' brother.
Or even, I don't know, him.
Oh, wait, they do have all that? That doesn't even count Daric Barton, who is not a "bad player" like people think at age 23? Or the oozing potential of this kid.
Nah, the Giants are obviously the better team of the future. No soon-to-be-ultrapricey starters or careeryearapaloozing relievers on that squad. Barry Zito is a figment of your imagination.
Read the rest of the article if you dare. I just hope you have health insurance if you do.
